NEW! The Parent Pod my new show is live
My new free-to-watch show helping parents take the panic out of the teenage years is on The Times YouTube channel now.
The PARENT POD is here: if you're worried about your teen and need easy tips on how to support them, then The Parent Pod is for you. I've teamed up with The Times to create a free-to-watch 6-part YouTube video series of useful interviews with experts who take the panic out of parenting a teenager. It answers all those questions that keep you awake at night. I'm so proud of the Parent Pod and would love you to watch it (do hit the like button) and share it far and wide to help as many mums, dads, step-parents and caregivers as we can. In the first show psychologist Dr Lisa Damour (who was a consultant on Inside Out 2) explains:
How to support an anxious teen and NOT be an an anxious parent
What happens to your child's brain when they turn 13
How to deal with tricky friendship shenanigans in Year 9
The power of 'back-up' peer groups
Why conflict is ok at home
The one thing you should never do as the parent of a teen
Lisa changed the way I parented my 4 teens with her easy-to-follow advice and I am forever grateful I found her books and podcast. Her advice saved my bacon every time I felt like a useless mum, overwhelmed by the challenges of adolescent development. She is the GOAT (as my 18yo son would say) when it comes to advice on teen mental health.
Please subscribe to the Parent Pod on YouTube (it is free to watch) and on The Times Life & Style channel, let me know what you think in the comments. We'll be tackling how to talk to teens about sex, screen time & social media advice, teens & eating habits, how to set boundaries and how to enjoy being with your teen as a parent in the challenging moments.

This was brilliant, Lorraine, thank you. Sharing with all the parents I know – we're all just coming into the 12-13 zone. xx
